The Legendary Negresco Hotel Celebrates 110 years
Le Negresco Hotel is an architectural masterpiece with a perennial fashionable elegance that balances refinement, boldness, understatement, and extravagance. The hotel has been upholding French-style excellence for eleven decades, bringing the establishment unparalleled prestige.

In 1913 the press reported that eight crowned heads attended the hotel’s inauguration. The tradition continues, and today, monarchs and heads of state still mingle with celebrities there. Le Negresco has long proved irresistible to the great, rich, and famous. James Brown spent a night chasing his wife around the hotel in jealousy. Romy Schneider and Alain Delon pursued their tumultuous love affair here. Elsewhere, the visitors’ book lists everyone you’ve ever heard of from everywhere in the world. These people come because it’s Nice, and the sweep of the Bay of Angels spangles just outside. But they also show up because Negresco’s story is as strong as any they might feature. Through the years, Liz Taylor, Humphrey Bogart, Fernandel, Sophia Loren, Salvador Dali, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, and countless other outstanding personalities enjoined at Le Negresco.

2023 is the year of the Negresco’s 110th anniversary, with celebrations all year long: a grand ball in the Viennese tradition, a limited issue of ‘Le Negresco – Nice’ bags by Longchamp, a gastronomic dinner with all the chefs who have brought Le Chantecler its Michelin stars over the past 45 years, and an exhibition in partnership with Paris Match.
Le Negresco is keeping its French excellence up to time by renovating the rooms and suites and reopening the private beach and restaurant, a garden by the sea, to offer guests and customers a moment of special pleasure. After eighteen months of building and construction, the spa and indoor pool will be opened in the autumn, becoming a yardstick for well-being and a must-go for guests and local visitors alike.
