Fête du Citron 2026 in Menton: A Citrus Spectacle Like No Other

Fete du Citron Menton 2026

From 14 February to 1 March 2026, Menton transforms into a vibrant carnival of yellow, scent and creativity for the 92nd edition of the Fête du Citron — the world-renowned Lemon Festival that draws visitors from across France and beyond.

What Is the Fête du Citron?

The Fête du Citron® (Lemon Festival) is an annual celebration born in 1934, honouring Menton’s long-standing citrus culture with art, music and larger-than-life installations made from lemons and oranges. It’s more than just a festival — it’s a sensory explosion of colour and creativity that combines tradition and innovation.

Now inscribed on France’s inventory of cultural heritage, the event has become a must-see winter attraction on the French Riviera.

2026 Theme: “Les Merveilles du Vivant” (The Wonders of Life)

This year’s theme celebrates the beauty, diversity and complexity of life itself. From nature’s intricate forms to the dazzling parade floats, every corner of the festival brings the theme to life — quite literally — in citrus-infused form.

Highlights & Events (14 Feb – 1 Mar)

Corsos des Fruits d’Or — Sunday Parades

Every Sunday during the festival, the famous “Golden Fruit” parades take over the Promenade du Soleil with giant floats covered in citrus fruits, accompanied by musicians, dancers and confetti.

  • Sunday 15 Feb

  • Sunday 22 Feb

  • Sunday 1 Mar

These colourful processions are a spectacle of sound and scent — perfect for families and photographers alike.

Corsos Nocturnes — Night Parades

On Thursday evenings (19 & 26 Feb), the floats take on a magical glow under lights for the nighttime parades. Brass bands, dancers and special effects create an electrifying atmosphere, often finishing with fireworks above Menton Bay.

Free Exhibitions & Activities

One of the signature draws of the Fête du Citron® is the exhibition of citrus motifs in the Jardins Biovès, where giant sculptures — some over 10 m tall — are displayed free of charge throughout the festival.

The event also includes:

  • Orchid Festival & Winter Garden Show

  • Craft and artisan market

  • Guided tours and interactive workshops

  • Local gastronomic experiences featuring Menton’s prized citrus flavours

Tickets & Practical Info

While the exhibitions and gardens are free, the main parades require tickets:

  • Standing place (Promenoir): ~€16 (children reduced)

  • Grandstand seats: ~€30

  • Children under 6 enter free; reduced rates apply for youths and certain visitors.

Arriving early on parade days is recommended — especially Sundays — to avoid traffic and crowds. And during the festival, public transport is strongly encouraged to reach Menton efficiently.

Why It’s Unmissable

The Fête du Citron® isn’t just a display of citrus artistry — it’s a living carnival steeped in local heritage, international flair, and unbridled fun. Whether you’re watching the illuminated night corsos sparkle against the Mediterranean sky or wandering through lemon sculptures in the sunshine, this unique festival captures the joyful spirit of winter on the French Riviera.
